Figuring out my dream garden as I go 🌸
🌹 Roses, dahlias + an ever-evolving garden
Mistakes • makeovers • things worth buying ↓

I’ll admit it. @rozjc might have had a point. 😂 M I’ll admit it. @rozjc might have had a point. 😂

My other half has wanted this willow gone for years and I was always a bit more… unconvinced.

But now it’s out, I can finally see what this part of the garden could become.

It looks very bare at the moment, but this is really the first step in a much bigger change. Next up is making way for our new tree.

Would you have kept the tree, or taken it out?

I’m sowing some of my perennials now because I’d r I’m sowing some of my perennials now because I’d rather give them a head start than leave everything until spring.
This is not a “sow everything in autumn” situation, but it’s just the seeds I’ve deliberately chosen to start now based on what I want more of in the garden next year.
I’ve put the full list together, including where I bought them from.

Comment SEEDS and I’ll send it over 🌱

Apparently I’m a mix of garden obsessive, ex-party girl, product manager geek, R&B lover and someone who will always make room for plants and a manicure.

There are worse combinations.

Which one are you relating to most?

Apparently I can’t just sow seeds anymore 😂 Inspi Apparently I can’t just sow seeds anymore 😂

Inspired by @floraldaysintheshires I’ve switched from multi-purpose compost and actually invested in @sylvagrow John Innes seed compost this time.

First impressions? It definitely feels different to work with, but the bit I really care about is whether the seedlings perform differently too.

So this is basically the start of the experiment.

Do you swear by seed compost, or do you still use multi-purpose?

I used to think there was a ‘right’ way to garden. I used to think there was a ‘right’ way to garden.

Plant it once.
Grow everything from seed.
Buy small and be patient.
Keep things because you paid for them.
Eventually, somehow, finish the garden.

Turns out I’ve changed my mind about quite a lot.

The more I garden, the more I think good gardening is mostly about paying attention to what actually works for you, your garden and your life.

Sometimes that means moving the plant.
Sometimes it means buying the mature one.
Sometimes it means admitting you just don’t like something anymore.

The garden is better for it.

What’s one gardening ‘rule’ you’ve stopped following?

I’m not trying to save money on everything in the I’m not trying to save money on everything in the garden.

But if I already grow it, love it, and saving the seed is easy… why would I keep buying it?

My Echinacea seed germinated, so that’s officially going in the do that again pile.

I’m saving Zinnia and Cosmos seed now too, ready to sow next year.

If saving it is easy, I’d rather spend the money elsewhere. Wouldn’t you?

There was a time when £50 on a night out felt comp There was a time when £50 on a night out felt completely normal.

Now apparently I’ll spend the same on roses and feel like I’ve made an excellent financial decision.

Somewhere along the way, club queues became garden centres, Facebook albums became flower photos, and a bulb delivery became genuinely exciting.

I’m not mad about it.

Did I find my people?

I went to the dahlia farm yesterday with @aoifes_a I went to the dahlia farm yesterday with @aoifes_allotment_adventures looking for inspiration for next year and came away with five things I’m definitely going to do differently.

The biggest shift for me is probably thinking much more about the stem, not just the flower.

I’m paying closer attention to stem length, cutting stage and vase life now because next year I’ll be growing and arranging flowers for my friend’s wedding, which feels equal parts exciting and mildly terrifying.

A few of these tips genuinely changed how I’m thinking about my 2027 dahlias.

Which one surprised you most?

Apparently every garden project needs a supervisor Apparently every garden project needs a supervisor.
Mine just happens to have whiskers, contribute nothing to the budget and still inspect absolutely everything 😂

The rest is simple: lush flowers, savvy spending and a garden I actually want to spend time in.

If that sounds like your kind of gardening, you’re in the right place.

I grew Rozã Pantera for the first time last year, I grew Rozã Pantera for the first time last year, and it took one season to become a favourite.

This year has only confirmed it.

The colour sits somewhere between pink, coral and raspberry, and every flower seems to stop me when I walk past it.

They definitely take up space. Quite a lot of it, actually. But they have also kept producing.

I have loved watching them ripen properly on the plant rather than buying a punnet and hoping for the best.

The variety has been one of my favourite parts. These dark ones are especially fun to grow.

And then there are these little yellow ones, which have been ridiculously satisfying to pick.

This is the bit that sold me. There always seems to be another batch coming through.

For me, yes. They have earned the space, and I will definitely grow them in here again.

5 things I DON’T do to create a beautiful garden 🌸 5 things I DON’T do to create a beautiful garden 🌸
Because creating a lush garden doesn’t have to mean doing everything the expensive or “perfect” way.

#GardeningUK #CottageGarden #BudgetGardening #GardenInspiration #PlantLovers GardenTransformation

I love plants, but I also love a sale 😂

I regularly buy reduced plants, wait for offers, shop around and pick up bargains when I see them.

That doesn’t mean buying something just because it’s cheap. It still has to work in the garden.

Buying every plant at full size would get expensive very quickly.

I use a mix of seeds, plug plants, bare roots and established plants depending on what I need.

Sometimes I’m paying with time instead of money and I’m absolutely fine with that.

Some parts of my garden are still very much a work in progress.

I’m happy to use temporary planting, move pots around or live with an imperfect area while I work out the bigger plan.

A garden doesn’t have to be “finished” to be beautiful.

If a plant doesn’t work in the scheme, I’ll move it, sell it or give it away.

Keeping something in the wrong place purely because I spent money on it usually just means I stay unhappy with the space.

Sometimes changing your mind is part of the design process.

Plants die. Seeds fail to germinate. Dahlias rot. Combinations sometimes look completely different from what I imagined. 😂

I’d rather show that side too, because the beautiful bits are usually the result of a lot of trial and error.

Which one do you relate to most?

Or is there something you DON’T do in your garden that saves you money, time or stress? 🌿
Went into @bm_stores for a browse and somehow came Went into @bm_stores for a browse and somehow came out with plants that had been reduced from £6.50 to 10p EACH. 😳🌱

TEN. PENCE.

Yes, they need a little TLC, but at that price I genuinely couldn’t leave them there. Similar plants can easily cost £10–£15+ in a garden centre, so this felt slightly ridiculous 😂

Now the real question is… will my 10p rescues thrive? 👀

#GardenBargain #PlantRescue #BMGarden #GardeningUK #GardenFinds
Inspired by my lovely friend Aoife @aoifes_allotme Inspired by my lovely friend Aoife @aoifes_allotment_adventures who did this and made me realise I definitely have a few random life stories of my own 😂

So… 3 truths and a lie. Which one do you think is the lie? 👀

1. I once ended up blurred out in the background of MAFS UK while having a manicure.

2. I interviewed a famous footballer for my university dissertation.

3. I was given my first pony, Lucky, when I was two years old.

4. I used to compete in ski races when I was younger.

No cheating if you already know the answer 😏

It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve loved experimenting with different planting combinations and learning what works. Plus what I really love along the way.

The bees found it. If a plant has to earn its pla The bees found it.

If a plant has to earn its place in my garden, Echinacea definitely does.
The bees found it first, and then the butterflies followed. That is when you know a flower is doing more than just looking pretty in the border.
I love Echinacea for the structure, the colour and the way it keeps the planting feeling vibrant, but seeing pollinators return to it again and again makes me appreciate it even more. For me, that is what a hardworking garden plant looks like; beautiful and useful.
