About
At the heart of Le Jardin by Jeannine is a love of Roses, Dahlias, and the slow, satisfying process of building a garden over time.
This site is my corner of the internet for all of that: the beauty, the process, and the practical detail behind creating a garden in layers.
What began as a way of sharing my love of gardening on social media gradually became something more considered. This is where that deeper version lives, a place for longer stories, thoughtful guides, seasonal rhythms, and the details that do not always fit into a caption or a Reel.
My story
A garden built in layers
When we bought our house in 2021, I said to my partner, even at the viewing, that the garden would be his responsibility because I did not have green fingers.
At that point, I admired beautiful gardens, but I did not yet see myself as someone who could create one.
That started to change in 2022, when I had more time to learn. I began paying closer attention to gardening content on Instagram and YouTube and, little by little, I started to understand more. What I was drawn to, what suited our space, and what might actually work in our south-facing garden with heavy clay soil.
From there, the garden became something I shaped more and more myself. I started making changes based on what I loved visually, while also learning through experience which plants responded well, which combinations truly earned their place, and how much gardening is really a conversation between instinct, observation, and patience.
Once I began to see those changes take hold, I was completely hooked!
There is something deeply satisfying about nurturing a plant and watching it reward your care, whether through growth, beauty, structure, or simply the quiet proof that something has flourished because you paid attention to it. That feeling changed everything for me. It made me want to learn more, try more, and connect with people who understood exactly why a single new bloom or a well-judged planting combination could feel so exciting.
Over time, Roses and Dahlias became the clearest expression of what I love most in the garden. Roses bring elegance, scent, repeat flowering, and a sense of permanence. Dahlias, meanwhile, bring energy, abundance, late-summer drama, and, if I am honest, a collector’s instinct that is difficult to resist.
In 2025, I was also fortunate enough to work on two award-winning borders for BBC Gardeners’ World events — one for Gardeners’ World Live and one for the Autumn Fair. That felt like a meaningful milestone in something that had already become far more than a passing interest: proof of how much can grow from curiosity, time, and a willingness to learn.
What you will find here
This site is a place for honest, practical gardening content shaped by experience, curiosity, and a love of beautiful planting.
You will find growing guides, seasonal advice, plant notes, garden updates, and ideas for creating a space that feels personal and full of character. Just as importantly, you will find the process behind it all — the testing, the adjusting, the lessons learned, and the small decisions that slowly shape a garden over time.
Although I still believe gardening is always a learning process, I also believe that you do not need to know everything to begin. Sometimes the best way to build confidence is simply to start, pay attention, and keep going.
Why Le Jardin by Jeannine
I wanted this space to feel a little slower than social media. Instagram will always be where I share moments, snapshots, and seasonal highlights. Here, however, there is room to go deeper to tell the longer story, share the practical detail, and gather everything in one place.
Le Jardin by Jeannine is where my love of gardening, storytelling, and thoughtful detail come together. It is a place for beauty, yes, but also for substance. That’s because the joy of a garden is not only in how it looks, but in how it is built, tended, and understood over time.
